Frequently Asked Questions
-
If your vet has recommended medication for your dog, it’s likely for a good reason. The choice to pursue medication is ultimately up to you, but it can make the process both faster and more comfortable for your dog.
Not all dogs require daily medication during the training process but most would benefit from a situational medication to help them through unavoidable departures.
-
Absolutely! All separation training is conducted virtually over Zoom so we can help regardless of where you live.
-
We can! Just not on separation anxiety :)
Separation training is best done virtually. It’s easier for us to get a true sense of what your dog is like when they’re left alone while we’re watching virtually. If we’re in your house with your dog while you’re leaving and coming back, it completely changes the dynamic and makes it harder to assess progress.
-
While building your dog’s alone skills, any absence longer than they can handle has the potential to cause a regression in your training. In order to decrease this risk, we recommend suspending those absences OR consulting with your vet on a situational medication that can help your dog feel more comfortable during unavoidable long departures.
-
It depends on the dog, but on average it can take 6-12 months to resolve. It’s a long process but incredibly rewarding.
